Baby Goes Vintage with Breathing Beside Us!

We love vintage style baby duds and accessories and were so excited to come across the designs of Debbie Hodges at Breathing Beside Us!  Debbie has set up shop on Etsy, one my favorite shopping sites for handmade goodies.  The best things about Breathing Beside Us is the commitment to charitable contributions with each purchase.  Debbie supports www.believe-miracles.com & www.smaangels.org

Hulagirl This photo of my baby, Emme, in her Breathing Beside Us Hula Girl Vintage Style One-Piece says it all....

Debbie's attention to detail is unbelievable...Hand-crocheted trim on the sleeves, little red buttons sewn at the neckline, a hand screened vintage hula-dancing babydoll, and red polka dot ruffles on the hip make this my absolute favorite item in Emme's extensive baby wardrobe.  I adore Debbie's other one-piece designs, such as the Fat & Sassy One-Piece with pink and aqua floral accents.  At just $29.99, these handmade treasures make a darling baby gift!

And, the one-piece outfits are just he beginning...Debbie has created darling little aprons for toddler and little girl with lots of funky little vintage touches, like rosettes and buttons and contrasting waistbands.    She really has an eye for combining fun and fashionable vintage style fabrics.  Check out the Chocolate & Raspberry Apron Emme will be sporting in the kitchen just as soon as she can stand!Chocoraspberryapron_2RetrokitchenapronCatapron_3Cherryapron_2

The fun doesn't stop there--Debbie has also created darling sets of "pretend" Sugar Cookies!  Embellished with tiny crystal "sprinkles" sewn on each cookie, they really do look good enough to eat--YUMMY! Just what a little girl needs for the perfect tea party.  Almost makes me want to throw a little tea party for myself:)

Diapees & Wipees - A Blow Out Saver

Imagelogo

If you visit the Diapees and Wipees website, you'll see their most recent press clip from D Magazine, "Dallas Moms will snap these up faster than lipstick at Neiman Marcus."

Point made.  The fantastic thing about Diapees and Wipees is they are soooooo practical and super cute, too!  They carry a full selection of very fashionable patterns.  This past Sunday, Father's Day, we had the perfect occasion to use our own Diapees and Wipees....a major baby blow-out...right at the restaurant table!

It was a quick grab into my Jilly K diaper bag and off to the changing...ummm...restroom.  Whew.

We first met Christina, owner & inventor of Diapees & Wipees, at the Golden Globes Baby Boom Boom Room Gifting Suite; where celebrities were going crazy for Diapees & Wipees, grabbing up one of their own!  A mother of 3 children, read more about her story here.

Father's Day - Super Dad Bags

There's one sure fire way to get daddy involved in diapers......his own hip diaper bag.  Just in time for father's day, here are two of our favorites:

1) Diaper Dude diaper bags hit the basics with camo styles, strong solid colors and hip graphics....at a great price.

2)  Timi and Leslie diaper bags PLAY BALL, with unique high quality leather bags for your daddy sports hero.  Our favorite is the baseball "babe ruth'" baby bag.

A little father's day history thanks to wikipedia, "In the United States, the first modern Father's Day celebration was held on July 5, 1908, in Fairmont, West Virginia. It was first celebrated as a church service at Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as Central United Methodist Church. Grace Golden Clayton, who is believed to have suggested the service to the pastor, is believed to have been inspired to celebrate fathers after the deadly mine explosion in nearby Monongah the prior December. This explosion killed 361 men, many of them fathers and recent immigrants to the United States from Italy. Another possible inspiration for the service was Mother's Day, which had recently been celebrated for the first time in Grafton, West Virginia, a town about 15 miles away. Fathers day originates as far back as 1839 in celebration of the fathers that went to war in the Battle of Iransop in which 123 fathers lost their lives defending the outpost......read more."
